Piritahi is an alliance of companies formed to speed up the supply of build-ready land. We prepare land for development and deliver new and upgraded infrastructure and amenity on behalf of Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities. We are working in Auckland Housing Programme development areas where state-owned land is being better utilised for new, warm, dry, healthy homes.

Our responsibilities include detailed civil design and construction; the removal of old houses; land remediation; applying for consents related to earthworks and infrastructure; construction of roads, parks and utilities, and of course - looking after the communities we’re working in as we go.

We are now seeking to recruit a community liaison team leader to manage a team and work closely with other areas within the alliance, to develop and maintain high quality community engagement through our activities.

This is a unique role that will involve working with internal and external stakeholders including our engineers and construction teams, Kāinga Ora, schools and community groups, and residents living in the communities we’re working in. A large part of the role involves coordinating our team of advisors who keep busy forming and maintaining relationships with community members, attending community events, and problem solving with the help of our construction teams.

With work being undertaken in existing communities across various locations in Auckland, the successful candidate will have an appreciation for Auckland’s diverse communities, excellent communication and organisational skills, and a passion for effectively engaging with the public. Relationship management skills are crucial, and experience in the construction or engineering sector is a bonus.


  • A previous history of customer service, people-centric and relationship building roles
  • Proven people management skills
  • Ability to plan and manage peak activities and high-quality data to optimise stakeholder liaison
  • Ability to effectively represent Piritahi at meetings/forums/community events, and support educational activities
  • Ability to build and manage relationships with communities, the client and other stakeholders
  • Ability to Manage a team of community liaison advisors to ensure community engagement will support project outcomes
  • Alignment of key results areas and KPI’s to meet alliance objectives and vision to deliver groundwork at scale and pace.  
  • Work closely with the stakeholder and communications manager to identify areas to innovate and improve the delivery of projects
  • Previous experience within the construction sector and understanding the dynamics of the industry is preferred
  • A relevant tertiary level qualification (e.g. communications, public relations, media or marketing) is highly desirable

This is a key position in the stakeholder and community team as it involves leading a busy team within a complex environment, who interact with the public on a daily basis. The role also comes with great opportunity as working on such a project does not come across often and is one that you can really make your own. You will also contribute to the long-term solution of housing in Auckland.  

The Piritahi head office is based in central Auckland however the role will require travel to our project sites across Auckland.
