Our vision at Piritahi is to change the way people live. We can do this by streamlining land development, laying the groundwork for neighbourhoods that are better to live in and homes that are more affordable.
Piritahi is an alliance of companies formed to speed up the supply of build-ready land. We prepare government-owned land for development and deliver new and upgraded infrastructure and amenity on behalf of Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities. We are working within Kāinga Ora’s large-scale urban development areas where state-owned land is being better utilised for new warm, dry, healthy homes.
Our responsibilities include detailed civil design and construction; the removal of old state houses no longer fit for purpose; land remediation; arranging consents related to earthworks and infrastructure; construction of roads, parks and utilities. We also look after the communities we’re working in as we go. We have several focus areas spanning our scope of work, meaning we collaborate to create outcomes that are far from business as usual! Join Piritahi and be part of the core team of people developing a practical solution to Auckland’s housing challenges.
With projects spanning multiple neighbourhoods across Auckland, and an up-to 5-year programme of work, this is a rare opportunity to be part of an alliance that will have a lasting impact upon the city’s communities. Surrounded by industry experts from six different companies all with a common purpose, a career at Piritahi is lined with incredible development opportunities.
As the Estimator you will join the TOC (target out-turn cost) team to facilitate programme estimates with the design and construction team. You will be responsible for analysing design and construct sustainability and undertake gap analyses of methodologies. You also will perform programme and risk assessments to produce estimates to ensure accurate TOCs are developed.
Due to the volume and variety of programmes of work, we require someone who is seeking a change from the traditional NZS 3910 tender model. Preferred (although not essential) also is an understanding of estimating within an alliance model and risk sharing to produce models to reduce the frequency of non-scope change variation once prices are submitted.
This is a unique role that would suit someone seeking an opportunity outside of the traditional estimating or engineering approach. Ideally, you will come from a civil or land development background. You will have a passion for the industry and interest in activities that include land remediation, house removals and infrastructure upgrades - drainage, utilities and roading.
• Relevant engineering qualification or estimating experience.
• MS Office Suites, Wrike and understanding of CANDY system or similar.
• Practical experience in civil construction, earthworks, or engineering project tenders.
• Passion for sustainability with a vision to want to reduce cost to land rehabilitation and constructability
Our head office is based in central Auckland and we have active projects in Northcote, Mt Roskill, Oranga, Mangere and Tamaki. This position will be based at our head office.
We have a great culture driven by our vision. We offer a fun and dynamic working environment, career development and pathways into various areas relating to the engineering and construction sectors. The companies who make up the alliance are also family-based organisations who value their staff and have a passion for the communities they work in.
Opportunities on projects like this do not come around often! If you are someone who thrives in a complex and dynamic environment, then we want to hear from you.
